The faster I go, the behinder I get!!!

It has really been almost two months since my last post.  I had grand plans for my blog but you know the old quote, "the best laid plans...".  That certainly held true for me...I'm not even going to try to go into all that has happened.  The latest has been the scariest.  On Sunday, March 3rd, my Daddy had a stroke.  He scared the daylights out of us...but, he is a tough, old bird and is doing pretty good.  Not your typical 87 year old, he works at his scrap metal business, hauling and cutting up scrap metal.  He is probably healthier than me...I know he is in better shape!!  So, it is going to be a battle trying to keep him at bay until he is stronger.  We are all praying that he will be able to do the things he wants to do once again.

I have been able to get some painting done and actually got a couple of things listed in my Esty shop tonight. These are Terrye French designs...I do love her designs!!

I also painted my newest design on a vintage Homer Laughlin serving piece.  I am planning to make this design into my first e-pattern.  What do you think?

I will be staying with Daddy while he recuperates at home and will check back in whenever possible.  It has been great talking to you.

Hugs,
Judy

What a week!

This week started, I turned around...and it is gone!! How does that happen. I got pretty much nothing accomplished.  I was all set to have fast internet this past Monday and here I am...slow, slow, slow!  The computer, not me...well me, too.

I did pull out some neat, old greeting cards I have.  I snatched these up on a junkin' trip.  I was so happy that I found them but a little sad.  I am sure that, a long time ago, someone had treasured these. I confess, I am a sentimental old gal and I can almost see the smile on the original owner's face as she opened the envelope, the anticipation she felt so long, long ago. Hmmm, I can feel a story coming on so I will shut up and get on with sharing the images!!

The cards are all just beautiful and most are in the envelopes they were sent in, postmarked 1908. They all belonged to the same person.  I only had one Valentine so I decided to share a Birthday card that I just love!  These are both from the same group of cards so I am sure they date around the same time.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

Want to share...

I couldn't sleep so I decided to share a couple of Valentine graphics that I found.
 Hope you enjoy them.

I will be working on a tutorial on how to make a cone like the one here.

I will also be sharing some Valentine's dating back to the early 1900's.

Thanks for stopping by.  I love to hear from you so please leave a comment. (Hint, may help your chances to win my next give away...I will be telling you more about it soon.)

Have a wonderful weekend,
Judy

LOOKING FORWARD TO A NEW YEAR...

and good times to come.  I am really looking forward to the New Year.  I have some new ideas I can't wait to start on and I am actually itching to get back in the painting room!

Without boring you with details, I want to let you know why I have been so scarce in blogland.  I spent a good portion of the year either in the bed, the recliner, the ER and the doctor's office.  After lots of tests, scans, x-rays, procedures, etc. over approximately a 6 month period, I got a few diagnoses and in Nov. was given meds that have helped tremendously.  I will be on some of the meds from here on.  I feel so blessed that all the biopsies came back negative and that there are meds that control my ailments.   Prayer is powerful and I thank everyone for keeping me in theirs.

You will be hearing from me again real soon.

Mother's Day...A Day of Sweet Memories

I hope everyone has had a wonderful day...a special day for special mothers.  I just wanted to share the following with all of you...
                             Mavis, our Mama

Mama, always singin’.  She hugged our hurts away and made us think chocolate gravy and biscuits for supper was a special treat just for us kids.
Mama, always barefoot.  Even in the coldest of winters, when she would hang the clothes on the line to “freeze” dry.  This is the same lady who would never let us kids go barefoot until the first day of May because the ground didn’t get warm enough till then.
Mama, always mama.  Even to a newborn animal whose real mama refused to accept it.  She said she didn’t like animals so I guess those were tears of joy when they were ready to be returned to the pasture or the wild.  Let’s see, besides us kids, she raised numerous pigs, wild bunny rabbits and calves. She didn’t name them all but I remember a little chick named Susie Q that grew to be big enough to fly up to her shoulder and perch there while she did the dishes.  There was Trixie, the squirrel…but, that’s another story.  Then, there were our pets that she made sure were fed and watered.  Naw, she didn’t like animals!!!
Mama, who thought all babies were beautiful but not as beautiful and her grand and great-grandbabies.
Mama, who hated a confrontation but would fight a pack of wolves to protect her family.
Mama…soft voice, tender heart, a truly gentle spirit.  Always seeing the best in everything.  Always there when she was needed.  The definition of true beauty.

Mama, our Mama…proof that love lives forever.
